Each primary DiSC® Personality styles has three possible combinations depicted on the circular DiSC® Model.
This is the third of four blog posts to help you understand the three style combinations within the Steadiness DiSC® Personality Styles.
The DiSC® Workplace Priorities Map below shows that the Steadiness Styles prioritize: SUPPORT, STABILITY and COLLABORATION.
While all three Steadiness combinations prioritize SUPPORT, STABILITY and COLLABORATION, each of the three Steadiness Combination Styles prioritize those qualities in a slightly different way, depending on the placement of a person’s dot within the “S” quadrant.
So how are three Steadiness combination styles alike and different? All Steadiness Styles tend to be: CAUTIOUS AND REFLECTIVE – ACCEPTING AND WARM… but in addition…
The Pure S Styles prioritize SUPPORT, STABILITY and COLLABORATION:
They are great listeners, and prefer to work in a supportive friendly environment. They seek stability and resist change. They thrive best in a collaborative warm environment where people feel included and appreciated.
When coaching the Pure “S” Style, encourage them to stand their ground confidently and be willing to express their true feelings.
The Si Styles prioritize COLLABORATION, SUPPORT and ENTHUSIASM:
Collaboration comes first for the Si style. As they lean toward support you will notice they are team players and prefer a cooperative work environment. Their enthusiasm and positive attitude is apparent as they interact with others in a friendly way.
When coaching the Si styles, encourage them to be more assertive and be willing to confront conflicting issues when necessary.
The SC Styles prioritize STABILITY, SUPPORT and ACCURACY:
They prefer to work in a stable and predictable environment, and they resist sudden changes. As they lean toward support, they tend to put others needs and preferences before their own. They tend to be diligent workers and it is important to them that their work be accurate.
When coaching the SC Styles, encourage them to speak up for themselves and their priorities. They would do well to be more decisive, spontaneous and flexible.
Overall, other styles tend to perceive the Steadiness to be non-assertive, slow to change, and indecisive. When stressed they tend to avoid conflict, and become overly compliant.
