Gift giving styles can say more about the DiSC® Personality Style than about the needs of the person receiving the gift.
And of course there are 4 gift giving behaviors that correspond with the four DiSC® Behavioral Styles. Each begins with the letter “P”.
Which type of gift giver are you? Does your DiSC® profile correspond with your gift giving behavior. Most likely yes!
- Practical
- Pleaser
- Planner
- Procrastinator
The “Practical Giver” will be goal oriented in their giving approach, and would likely try to “get it done” by slipping some green backs or a gift card into an envelope. The gift would be well received and meet the needs of the “Dominant Style, – to be quick and efficient.
The “Pleaser Giving Style” would prefer to give something the receiver would really like. They would take pleasure in giving something the recipient would love. That would meet the needs of the “Influence Style,” – for social approval.
The “Planner Giving Style” will shop sales all year long. Their stash will be wrapped by Thanksgiving, and they’ll be calmly baking holiday treats and enjoying friends. This meets the needs of the “Steadiness Style,” – to be prepared.
The “Procrastinator Giving Style” tends to put off until the last minute. They do so because they feel the pressure to get the “perfect gift.” As the pressure builds, they will “suck it up” and head to the specialty stores and try to get that “perfect something.” This corresponds to the “Conscientiousness Style” – who put things off for fear of making a mistake or not being perfect.
