Each primary DiSC® Personality style has three possible combinations depicted on the circular DiSC® Model.
This is the fourth of four blog posts to help you understand the three style combinations within the Conscientiousness DiSC® Personality Style on the circular model.
The DiSC® Workplace Priorities Map below shows that the Conscientiousness Styles prioritize: ACCURACY, CHALLENGE and STABILITY.
While all three Conscientiousness combinations prioritize ACCURACY, CHALLENGE and STABILITY, each of the three Conscientiousness Combination Styles prioritize those qualities in a slightly different way, depending on the placement of a person’s dot within the “C” quadrant.
So how are the three Conscientiousness combination styles alike and different?
All Conscientiousness Styles tend to be CAUTIOUS AND REFLECTIVE – SKEPTICAL AND QUESTIONING
The Pure “C” Style prioritizes ACCURACY, STABILITY and CHALLENGE:
They are very analytic, and value accuracy above all. They tend to be formal and appear detached. As they lean toward stability, they prefer to make informed choices and they tend to resist quick or risky decisions. While they also prioritize challenge, they look for productive methods for task completion.
When coaching a pure “C” Style, encourage them to avoid over analyzing and acknowledge the feelings of others.
The “CS” Style prioritizes STABILITY, ACCURACY and SUPPORT:
Their desire for stability and accuracy creates a tendency to avoid risks and tend to be very well and sometimes overly prepared. They are data collectors and overwhelm people with questions. As they lean toward SUPPORT you will notice greater patience and a willingness to help others.
When coaching the “CS” Style, encourage them to not hesitate when making decisions; to be more flexible, and create a greater sense of urgency when solving problems.
The “CD” Style prioritizes CHALLENGE, ACCURACY and RESULTS:
When faced with challenges, they tend to become more skeptical and questioning. As they lean toward accuracy, they become logical, rational and unemotional. Their goal is to deliver quality results in the most efficient way possible.
When coaching the “CD” Style, encourage them to show patience and avoid being critical of others. They would do well to be attentive to the needs of others, and acknowledge feelings.
Overall, other styles tend to perceive the Conscientiousness Style to be aloof and detached, overly analytical, and are overwhelmed by their questions. When stressed they become rigid and withdraw from others as they move ahead independently.
